Worried About Your Milk Production?
If your milk flow is on the slow side, moringa is proven to increase the production of breastmilk.
Whether you are an expecting mother or nursing mother who is pro-breastfeeding, you know how important it is to keep your body & mind healthy, rested, and hydrated to provide a steady production breast milk for your baby.
Full disclosure: I have not tried this product as I am not in need of help in the breastmilk department (ever grateful). This one-boobed-bandit (double thumbs her chest) has been blessed to be in full supply for a ferocious, little eater.
Being that I’ll be That Mom though, I’ll definitely be keeping this info in the back pocket, just in case. Of course that will be promptly followed a BAM review.
The three important steps you must take now to help increase the flow!
To get myself to an optimal start for breastmilk production, I followed my golden rules:
First, drink, drink, drink. Water is your friend always but especially now. Water, in some ways, is even more important than food intake. After all, milk is a liquid.
Second, don’t stop eating (as the first step might suggest). Eat healthy, plentiful diet full of fruit and veggies rich in colors.
Third, your rest. If you’re pregnant now and it’s your first I have to tell you this – get. your. sleep. now. Go! WAIT!!! Finish reading, sing up for a newsletter and then GO!!! Sleep as much as you can during this calm before the beautiful storm that is baby in all its crying, pooping, spitting glory!
Lastly? This one you may have not heard of: Moringa. Moringa is a scientifically proven method to boost milk production in mothers. Here’s what I found…
I’ve included my research findings in hopes of helping my fellow Mama Bees who are not as fortunate. I welcome your feedback and thoughts at the end of this post. May you find it informative, at least.
Moringa Increases Breastmilk Production – the Facts
Here are a few reputable sources I’ve come across that shed the light on the facts of moringa and it’s effects on breastmilk production in lactating and expecting mothers.
(NaturalNews) The moringa tree is grown in southeast Asia and Africa as a source of food. Tall seed pods grow from the flowers of the moringa tree, giving moringa the nickname “drumstick tree.” Moringa leaf is found in some superfood recipes because of its high calcium and potassium content. Moringa leaf tea is used specifically by midwives to increase breast milk production in lactating mothers. According to an Agriculture Business Week news article, moringa leaf has been promoted by the World Health Organization (WHO) for years as an inexpensive health booster for poor countries. The U.S. Department of Agriculture recognizes moringa leaf for its high vitamin A, C, iron, and HDL cholesterol levels. The herb has been scientifically proven as an anti-bacterial agent, and as a way to improve glucose tolerance in diabetic rats. Moringa root bark has been clinically demonstrated to be an effective treatment for post-menopausal ovarian cancer, but should not be used by women of childbearing age.

In a recent study, mothers who took Moringa during pregnancy have experienced being able to produce milk much quicker after delivery versus those mothers who didn’t. It’s very important for the newborn to get vital nutrients such as good fats (DHA and EPA) for brain development, immune system protectors, digestible protein, the amino acids argentine and histidine plus many others as soon as possible to start the process of total body development. Nothing is better at supplying those nutrients than breast milk fortified from a mother taking Moringa. Moringa leaf boosts your energy in a natural way, and is a remarkable source of nutrition. This energy promotion does not happen because of sugar, so it is lasts for a long time.
In Africa, one of the many uses of moringa is as a nutritional food for pregnant mothers, nursing mothers and infants. Moringa has been scientifically proven as a galactogogue. A galactogogue is the scientific term given an herb or food that increases the flow or production of breast milk. Moringa has 17x the calcium in cow’s milk. 10x the vitamin A in carrots, 25x the iron in spinach, and 15x the potassium in a banana.
